Last week in the movie, we saw the difference between Ian's small family and Toula's big and loud family! What kind of family do you have? How about your extended family, i.e. aunts, uncles, cousins...
In my case, I have two sons, three sisters, two brothers in law, two nieces and a nephew, whom I love very much! Most of us get together on Sundays. We are definitely a close family.
As for my extended family.... we are hundreds!!, just like the Portokalos, thought Italian and Spanish but kind of loud too. For the last few years, cousins in my family are getting together once a year and we eat (a lot, just like the Greek), laugh and even sing together. It's a real joy!!!
I enjoy family life very much. To have a family is a real support in life and one of the best ways to experience the real meaning of love.
I'm looking forward to reading about you.
Hi everybody
ResponderEliminarwell, I have a large family, not only my close but my extended family. I have four brothers who are married, four nephews and five nieces. We always have lunch together on Sundays and of course, we are loud when we speak and laugh but 3 topics are kind of "prohibited" to talk about in the table and they are politics, soccer teams and religion in order to keep a good environment. But of course, they are the most important people for me, I know they are, and they will be in the good times and in the bad ones and it seems they always have the right words when you need them. Definitely I enojoy being like the Portokalos =)
Hi everybody, how are you doing??What a nice topic to talk about, let´s see...
ResponderEliminarI have a very short family.I have lived in the same house with my mother,my father and my grandma(who is my mother´s father and is the only one of my four granparents who still lives).Besides, I am an only child(obviously,I don´t have nephews),so I am like the "baby" of the house jajajaaj.Despite having a very short family, they are very important for me and support me in all the things I do.
As far as my extended family is concerned, this is something which represents a real pain in the neck for me!! I know very few of them.My father doesn´t have any brothers or sisters,so I have neither uncles nor cousins. My mother has a sister and she has two sons.My godmother is my neighbour and my godfather is married and has two daughters,Ivana and Paola. Now, they are living in the south(Allen,Rio Negro).
Two weeks ago, the aunt of my father came from Mar del Plata to visit my family and stayed with us for three days. She told me some things about the family, some of them I already knew and some others I didn´t but it is very difficult to draw a picture in my mind because I know very few of my relatives.
Bye,that´s all I can tell you about my family and I hope to read your comments!!

ResponderEliminarHi people! waw! I have to talk about MY family :O well, my family is big, very veryy big! My mother has 2 brothers and 5 sisters. And they all have more than 4 children. So, I have around 30 cousins. Most of them have their own family. We are 114 people! I have 1 brother who is married and has 5 kids. And I also have 2 sisters who are married and have 1 kid each. My other sister is not married yet (but she's engaged!).
ResponderEliminarWe don't join together very much because my sisters don't live in Pilar and sometimes it is difficult to agree in a date. My close family is not that noisy (well, the kids are the ones that are fighting all the time.) But my extended family is really really noisy. And I don't get on very well with them. I'm the black sheep. They don't even know my name. They call me "Lore" or "la nena de la Alicia". That's very upsetting. I only meet them at Christmas and I'm don't spend much time there. My father and I are always late because we go to church before going there. And I leave early because I meet with my friends. I also meet them at my Grandfathers's birthday. It's on June and we organize a "chocolatada". But I'm always late in that celebration too.
I don't enjoy family life very much. I don't have a close relationship with my brother and sisters because they're much elder than me. They Love me and they support me very much! of course :D I'm their sweet little sister :P But we are different. We have different ideas and life styles. One of my sisters used to tell me that I had been adopted. And I believed her!!
Hello! How are you?
ResponderEliminarWell, let's see... My famly is not big. I have only a brother. My father is an only child so I have no aunts or uncles on his side. My mother has 4 brothers and 4 sisters so I have a lot of cousins! All of them live in Santiago del Estero so I do not often see them, thay is why I say my family is not big.
My brother is ten years older than me so we do not have much in common and my parents sometimes do not understand me but I think we are a close family!
I think I would not be able to live with the Portokalos! I'm not used to living with so many noisy people!!!
See you!
See? We all have different families! Big... small... loud... quiet...- I had a great time reading about yours Looking forward to the rest of the comments guys!!
ResponderEliminarOh! Something I forgot about my family... we all love getting together and traveling together too. Lots of fun!
Hi everybody! I hope everything is ok… Well, let´s talk a little bit about my family!
ResponderEliminarI have a “nuclear” family: it consists of my mum, my dad and my older brother. I get on well with them most of the times, very rarely do we quarrel and obviously, the person who I tend to fall out with is my brother! But since we know that he is moving to another house with his girlfriend, we have been much closer, I don´t know why… I think we both are conscious that despite all, we´ll miss each other.
And concerning my extended family, my mum has two sisters and my dad three brothers, all of them have children. But there is a problem. I have a coincidence with Noe! They all live in Santiago del Estero too! My parents came from there; they came to Rafaela in search of better jobs, so that´s why we are far from my extended family. When I was a kid, we used to go almost every month to visit them. I remember a very loooong table full of food and uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousins, and even my father´s aunts!! Just like the Portokalos. It was the best childhood ever! I enjoyed it a lot! But, since we get older, my brother and I preferred to stay with our friends rather than travelling. Besides, my cousins went to study abroad, or some aunts and my grandparents are not alive or there were some divorces in between, so, my grandma´s home is not the same. It used to be very noisy and there was always someone there, but now it is quiet and solitary.
Despite this sad situation, we still travel to visit them or they came to Rafaela. Although we are far away, we know that in every situation, bad or good, we have each other and that´s comforting.
That´s all! I really liked reading your comments guys! And I looking forward to reading the next ones!
Have a nice day!
Hi! How are you?
ResponderEliminarWell, my family is a big one. Both of my parents have Italian roots so we are very noisy. My mother has two sisters and three brothers. There are thirteen cousins. Two of them are married and have their own children (five in total). My father has two sisters and three brothers too, and I have nineteen cousins. Some of them have kids, I think there are four but I may have lost the count, ha! Unfortunately, all my grandparents have passed away.
So, my family (my parents, my two sisters and me) usually go to spend the Christmas with my maternal relatives. We are generally like the Greeks, we eat too much, we are very noisy and we all talk at the same time. However, we don’t meet with my parental relatives, because we don’t have a good relationship with them…
Well, that’s all about my big family.
See you in class…
Hello everybody!! How are you??? I feel not so well!!!I am in bed with a terrible sore throat!!! :(
ResponderEliminarWhat a nice topic to talk about!!!! Well, considering my family, it is not a big one. I have only a sister who is younger than me (she is 25) and as you can imagine I do everything I can for her as I am the oldest!!!!!! My mother is an only child so I have no uncles, aunts and cousins from her side. My father has a sister who has two daughters and a son. So, I have 3 cousins. Every two months we organize a meeting and we eat all together so as to be in contact. Taking into account my grandparents, luckily, the four of them are in good health in Pilar (the oldest is my father´s father who is 94 years old). I see them five or six days per week because I know that for them is really important to spend time with their grandchildren. The relationship that I have with my family is wonderful. I love spending time with them and I consider that we have to take care of it. I don´t want to avoid mentioning that after 9 years my boyfriend is part of my family too!!!!!!!!
See you soon…. Luci…
Hello everybody!!!! I also have a very, very, very …extensive family!!!
ResponderEliminarI have my own family (husband and two daughters), my father and mother and one sister, and hundreds of aunts, uncles and cousins…..
When we meet, we spend great time together, eating, dancing, singing, and gossiping!!!! We really are a big loud family!!!! But, the most important thing is that we love being together, and share both good and bad moments.
When my grandma was alive, she used to cook a lot for all of us, especially on Sundays, and we always had spaghetti for the first course, and chicken for the main course. Then every family had to bring a cake each!! So imagine!!!! We still meet, and try to keep our traditional lunch.
Thus I can claim that when I got married, I had a kind of big, fat, but Argentinian je!!! wedding party as well!!!!
Luz, Fabiola, Lucía and Sofia: great comments!!! Thnaks for sharing part of your lives with us. It's very nice to know something else about everybody in class, isn't it?
ResponderEliminarHi everybody!
ResponderEliminarWell, talking about my family, I live with my mother who is 43 years old and with my sister who is 13. As you can see, my family is not so big, but I like it in this way. In fact, I can't imagine myself living in a very big and noisy family because I prefer silence at home.
Concerning my extended family, I have 4 uncles, 1 aunt and 15 cousins. I don't meet them so often and some of them don't live here, but when I do I like it and I enjoy it a lot. I really get on well with most of my cousins. Considering my grandparents, 3 of them live here in Rafaela, but my grandfather lives in San Cristobal where my mother's family comes from.
I have a close relationship with my mother and my sister, and I love spending time with them. My mother is very supportive and understands me very well.
See you in class!
Hi everybody!
ResponderEliminarWell, taking about my family, I have 2 brothers. One is only 5 years old, so you can imagine how noisy he is!!! My other brother is 17 but he doens't live at home actually, he lives in Santa Fe because he is playing football there. I really miss him because we are really closer. But on weekends when we are all at home we have a lot of fun together.
As far as my extended family is concerned, my father has 5 siblins so I have a lot of cousins, but I don't have a closer relationship with them because they all live in santa fe because my father was born there.
Then, my mother has 2 siblins and so I have 5 cousins. I really get on well with all of them because we see each other almost everyday. When we meet on Sundays we have a lot of fun, laugh a lot and enjoyed a lot being together.
See you next week, have a nice weekend!!
Hi Milena and Florencia!
ResponderEliminarHow nice to see you enjoy and love your fammilies! It seems to me it doesn't matter whether you have a small or a big family, as long as you love them. It is obvious you feel also loved and supported by them.
Thanks for sharing with us.
