Take a stand!!!

Hi everybody!!! Did you all enjoy the long Easter week.-end? I hope you haven't had tooooo much chocolate and you have all turned up to classes in good health this afternoon !
As you can see, I decided to make another posting after the holiday and not before! Not that I thought you would all be desperately reading the blog, of course!! But... it made me feel better to think I was letting you take a good rest.

Anyway, here's my question.
In My dream job we read: "... dreams come true if you really make them happen." However, in My big fat Greek wedding, Toula says: "... I wish I was braver, prettier or happy, but it's useless to dream because nothing ever changes."
What's your viewpoint?

  1. Hi everybody!
I really enjoyed the long Easter week-end with my family, and you?

Taking into account the question, I don't agree with Toula's point of view. I really believe that dreams come true if you make them happen. If you really want to fulfill your dream you have to give it a lot of importance and do as much as you can in order to get what you want.
It's important to be positive and to think that everything is possible if you are convinced of what you're doing. On the contrary you'll never be able to fulfill your dreams.

    See you tomorrow, bye!!

  2. Hi!
    I had a great week-end too! :) I don't like chocolate so I didn't eat much.
I agree with Flo. What matters is our attitude. If we believe nothing good will happen to us, well, probably it won't. That's why I try to be optimistic. But not too much! On the contrary, we will never fight for our dreams. It's a matter of balance.

  3. Hi everyone
Well I think that sometimes dreams come true and sometimes they just don’t but it is important to have dreams because they keep you focused in the goals you want to reach and give you a reason to get up every day and face the world, but I don’t think that dreams come true if you don’t do anything, I always keep in mind the concept of “give it a try” because if you really want to achieve something the first thing you have to do is to try, this doesn’t mean that you will get everything you want but at least you will have the satisfaction that you made all the efforts and in the future you won´t regret having done nothing about it.

  4. Hello again!I hope all of you have enjoyed the long Easter week.-end, which in fact I did!The worst thing about it was that I couldn´t eat chocolate because two months ago I had a kind of alergic reaction in my face and I realised it was thus because I used to eat chocolate.
Concerning Liliana´s question, I will let you know what my viewpoint is:
I don´t agree completely with neither My Dream Job´s statement nor with Toula´s one.On one hand, I believe that if you persevere enough and put all of your energy in that dream you want to achieve, you may make that dream come true. What happens is that it is almost imposible to reach EVERY SINGLE GOAL in life,at least for me because there are many drawbacks that can come up.
On the other hand,I don´t agree with Toula´s statement because if you consider life as a misery, ruin, lack of opportunities and changes, life will mean exactly that for you,so our existence will be nonsense.I feel taht we should be positive and try to fight for what we want.
That´s my comment but I would like to know the other girls´ comments!Bye, see you in class this afternoon!

  5. Hi!
I had a great week-end with my family, friends and my boyfriend. I enjoyed it VERY much. I LOVE chocolate and I don't care if it is winter or summer, I just like eating it.
Considering the question, I believe that you are the only one who is capable of changing your own life, you can't just have a negative attitude and think that you have to accept the lifestyle that you alredy have. YOU have the power of making your dreams happen. Every day is an opportunity to be closer to the possibility of achieving what you want. It depends on you.

    See you!

  6. First, Happy Easter to everyone! Though I received only one chocolate egg, I really had a good time this weekend jaja =)

Well, talking about the topic, I’d say that dreams DO come true!! The fact is that when we want something, we want it NOW, and maybe "now" it’s not “the right time”. For me, Toula is hopeless about her situation because she’s been living like that for 30 years…so I think that’s the main reason she believes nothing it’s gonna change. We’ve watched less than the half of the movie…so let’s see if her dream really comes true! The ones who haven't seen the movie before...what do you think?

  7. Hi everybody! I really devoted my whole looong weekend to my friends and family and I had a whale of a time!

Well, concerning the question, I totally agree with Vero´s point of view. It is clear that in life, it is impossible to reach all aims and objectives you want, it is simply because things not always go in the way you wish. Nevertheless, it is also true that if you stay only twiddling your thumbs and waiting for things to happen, it is obvious that you will never achieve what you want. So, I conclude saying that you have to move, to try, to do all you can for accomplishing your dreams, but, at the same time you have to know that sometimes drawbacks will be in your way and things will be difficult, just keep trying or go for other dreams!

Having said this, I retire to start doing the homework jaja… See you!

  8. Hello!!!
I really enjoyed the loooooong weekend!!!
Personally, I would like to say that I don´t agree with Toula when she says that “it's useless to dream because nothing ever changes”. From my point of view, there are some dreams which are easier to fulfill than others. So, on the one hand, I think that if you really want to change something in your life or you have the strong desire to get something what you have to do is to fight against everything with all your strength to get it. On the other hand, sometimes it is not possible to get some things which are not so easy to achieve, so, I think that there are some dreams that are not so easy to fulfill but what is important is to be optimistic and to do all you can to achieve your goals. So, for me dreams become true if you make them to happen.
That´s all for today!!!! See you soon…. Luci

  9. Hello people!!!! I am a positive person and always try hard to get what I want. That is why, I think that nothing comes as an especial gift; at least you are a very lucky person!!!! (Unfortunately, this is not my case, jeje!). So in order to make our dreams true, it is necessary to fight for them, to do something about them. Waiting without doing anything is useless. Being negative, thinking that we are not able to get something, is another disadvantage. So I go along with the first statement: “…dreams come true if you really make them happen.”

  10. Hi everyone!!!
I hope you had had a good long Easter weekend!
I’ve found by chance an interesting phrase written by Walt Disney which expresses what I think about Liliana’s question in a few words. It says “All dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them”. What you really want to happen may or may not happen, but, as Vero said before, you really have to give it a good try first.
In the movie, Tula is competently hopeless (until the guy appeared), and in some way, she is right, because she knows that there’s something to do in order to change her life and achieve what she wants. Otherwise, her life would continue in the same way.
That’s my viewpoint: Try your hardest to make your dreams come true. And if you don’t success in getting what you wish, you may take comfort from the fact that you really have been brave enough to pursue it.
    Well, that’s all
    See you in class!

  11. Hi Everybody! My Easter weekend went too fast, but I really enjoyed the Easter festivities. Now, talking about dreams... it's an interesting topic. I think that it depends on the kind of dreams you have.I mean, if your dream is "becoming an English Teacher" you might be able to reach it (or at least we hope so:P), it's only a matter of hard working. But if your dream is "having your name written down on The Walk of Fame", well... that's quite different hahaahah! Anyway, you always have to try. Trying also gives you a great satisfaction. Dreaming is wonderful and we shouldn't give up. No matter how difficult or impossible our dreams sound.

  12. I am so pleased to read that all of you have an optimistic view of life and of making your dreams come true! Shakespeare said we are the architects of our own destinies!
I really enjoyed reading all your comments. Great job guys! Thanks for sharing your ideas with the rest of us.
